Mid shoulder - not unusual for the age. Dirty, but legible labels. Healthy colour. This is wonderful wine!

A classic Bordeaux vintage, i.e. very elegant. Many critics did not expect it to last very well as it was a delight to drink young. However, the 1953 Bordeaux have shown that the most important thing for a wine to be able to age gracefully is balance rather a massive doses of tannins, extract or alcohol.
