Madeira Verdelho, Barbeito

Madeiras are very versatile and underrated wines. Together with Tokaji they are the most long lasting of all wines - practically indestructable. They vary from dry ( Sercial), medium-sweet (Verdelho), sweet (Bual/Boal) to very sweet (Malmsey), but they always remain fresh due to its acidity. It is always a fascinating experience to drink an old Madeira and think of what life was like when that particular wine was harvested. Once opened the wine will remain fresh for months.
