Our comment on
A glorious vintage!! I am more and more convinced that 1990 will eventually be classed as one of the very greatest vintages of its century. The wines are full of concentrated fruit and possesses great charm, class and balance for a long life. This was, similar to 1961, a vintage where just about everyone produced very good wines, and I recommend you to rather buy wines from lesser known châteaux from 1990 than wines from more famous châteaux from the vintages that followed. There are many stars in this vintage. The best include Cheval Blanc (the greatest Cheval Blanc since 1947), Pétrus, Haut Brion, Latour, Margaux, Grand Puy Lacoste (great value), Lynch Bages, La Mission Haut Brion, Pape Clement, Montrose, Pichon Baron, Cos and Le Pin.
